T.E.R:R.A.I.N - Taranaki Educational Resource: Research, Analysis and Information Network

Friends of Te Henui

Phil Bendle
9th December 1936 - 8th August 2018

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Phil. He was an extraordinary contributor of information to New Zealand's natural history records.

Phil was an excellent photographer, meticulous in his records, and shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with many people around the world. He contibuted 4,481 records to iNaturalist, contributed to Facebook pages on fungi and insects, and provided excellent images for books and educational resources of all kinds. Phil loaded 16,000 images to the National Library Kete.

T.E.R;R.A.I.N. was fortunate that he provided so many hours to documenting the flora and fauna of Taranaki - and NZ wide. He has over 3,000 pages in this website, which were read by over 493,000 people last year. Thank you Phil.

The Friends of Te Henui salute you, and will miss you greatly.
