Penguin Experience 2011 - run by 60 Springs education team at Puke Ariki, Taranaki. The students saw penguins, followed penguin tracks and dug in some nest boxes at Urenui Beach. Records from the public - stories about pengions were collected to help improve our understading of penguin distribution.
Experiencing Marine Reserves - EMR has come to Taranaki. The Nga Motu Marine Rserve Society is assisting Taranaki schools to take up the program, so they can visit interesting marine areas, snorkel, and observe underwater and seashore life.
Marine Education - Providing quality marine education opportunities to schools, communities and professionals.
Marine Conservation - Increasing awareness, encouraging action and support for marine conservation in New Zealand
Empowering Communities - Providing schools and their communities with the expertise and knowledge to experience their local marine environment first-hand, leading to local communities understanding marine conservation issues in their local area and fostering kaitiakitanga.
This national program of services and equipment is provided free of charge to the school thanks to support from the Tindall Foundation.
