Cyperus eragrostis is a species of sedge  It is a green perennial grass with tall, erect  triangular in cross-section stems, and long, thin, pointed leaves. Full grown plants are about 25–90cm tall (from ground to seed head).Its flowers are in light yellow-green clusters within tough, rounded, greenish-yellow or beige spikelets. This species is originally native to the western United States but it has become naturalized across North America, Europe, and parts of South America , Australia and New Zealand. It can become a weed where it is introduced; it has been known to infest rice fields.  It reproduces by seeds and by rhizomes.

Cyperus eragrostis It is classed by the Department of Conservation as a Class C invasive weed,  meaning it is potentially troublesome and should not be spread aroundn and to remove small infestations.
