Black–headed jumping spider is a small spider, body length about 10 mm and is one of several native species and are active hunting spiders which have acute eyesight and intricate vision guided prey-capture behaviour. They pounce on prey from a few centimetres away. These spiders use silk as a dragline when hunting. It is harmless to humans. The Salticids is the largest family of spiders.

Jumping spiders are most commonly seen in warm, sunny spots such as on concrete paths, stones or fences.
