Species Quercus serrata. 'Aurea'
Common name: Red Oak
This is a striking variety of the red oak, with quite intensely coloured yellow spring foliage. The foliage changes to yellow-green in the summer and provides yellowish-orange autumn colour, though this is not especially stunning. A springtime specimen makes a very bright contribution to the landscape. Originates from Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Himalayas.
An oak of the John Goodwin Collection Te Henui.
