Genus: Gunnera   This genus was named after the Norwegian botanist Johann Ernst Gunnerus.
Species: Gunnera prorepens    (prorepens means creeping forward)

Gunnera prorepens a New Zealand native is a prostrate/spreading ground plant with bronze to purplish-green foliage. Occurs naturally in wet areas. It developes in summer bright red berries which stand above the foliage on small spokes up to 10cm tall. It has separate male and female plants.
