Anemanthele is a rare grass in the wild. It is a monotypic genus of grass indigenous to New Zealand and the only species is Anemanthele lessoniana often called "gossamer grass" or "New Zealand wind grass." It is widely cultivated for use as an attractive ornamental garden plant. It has a lovely arching habit and thrives in sun or shade, turning a coppery ginger colour in autumn and holding the colour well into winter. It freely self-seeds and grows to 1m height and a 1m spread.
