Lycaena feredayi is a butterfly of the Lycaenidae family found only in New Zealand. It prefers a lowland habitat in forest gullies, around lake shores and alongside streams and sand-dunes.
It has a wingspan of 25–32 mm. The dark markings on the wing are heavier than the other coppers. Adults are on wing from November to December and from February to the beginning of April.
The caterpillar feeds on the creeper Muehlenbeckia australis (Large-leaved Muehlenbeckia). The adult butterfly can also be found around blackberry.
