This creeping club moss is found through out New Zealand. It forms thick spreading patches on banks in shrub and can be found climbing up through the shrub. Its main stems are prostrate, branched and tough and are up to 2m long. The sterile leaves are flattened are up to 0.4cm long.  It has develops cones on orange- brown stalks up to 5 cm long.
